Fallout 3 - Point Lookout Trailer
As the ferry docks in the decrypt amusement park, complete with the ruins of ferris wheel poking above the rows of run-down and long-shuttered booths, I find myself already facing one of those tricky moral conundrums Fallout 3 is known for. Do I explore this fascinating post-apocalyptic wonderland, or head off to that mansion on the hill?
Fortunately, in this instance, it really doesn't matter. At roughly one-fifth the size of Fallout 3's initial game world, the entirety of the new landmass that the June 23-due Point Lookout DLC adds to Bethesda's action-RPG is open from the start, enabling you to ignore that quest about the ghoul in the mansion and just explore the wetland.
That lighthouse out in the distance? That cathedral on the hilltop, ever-so-slightly obscured by the murky haze that permeates the swampy area? Go for it.
While you're exploring, don't be surprised if you run across some more quests. Over half a dozen "free roaming" quests are hidden throughout the overall area. And hey, if you get a hankering to head back to the more familiar trappings of post-apocalyptic Washington D.C., no worries. You can always hop on the ferry, ride on home, and come back later.
Undoubtedly, some will make a beeline for that mansion on the hill. After all, you're here to investigate the mysterious fruit that's been popping up. And Desmond, the former secret agent turned ghoul that lives on that hillside, he might know something about it.
First though, you'll have to help the recluse fight off the Tribals that have invaded his rotting estate. Upon entering his mansion, you walk into a firefight--hounds running amuck, ceiling-mounted turrets blazing away, and Desmond laying waste to the foes. He assumes you'll help, tasks you with ridding his house of the invaders, and runs off to hide somewhere. A random dude exploiting you? In Fallout? Go figure.

Neverwinter Nights 2 - Official Trailer
Title: Neverwinter Nights 2
Release Date: Oct 31 2006
Platforms: PC
Label: Atari
Genre: RPG
Age Rating: T (Teen)
The title “Neverwinter Nights” has been used for two of the most ambitious RPGs ever created for the PC – SSI’s original “Gold Box” version that launched on America Online in 1991 and BioWare’s massive five-year endeavor that finally debuted in 2002. BioWare’s version continues to sell very well even after four years, and something tells me that if SSI’s version hadn’t been taken offline in 1997, many of us would still be playing that as well. Given the success of the Neverwinter Nights brand name, it comes as no surprise that Obsidian Entertainment (the company started by a handful of ex-Black Isle developers) is currently developing a sequel designed to improve upon BioWare’s version in nearly every aspect.
If you attended E3 this year, you couldn’t help but notice Neverwinter Nights 2. A massive banner advertising the game was draped across the front of the Los Angeles Convention Center, and the game was on display at both Atari’s and Microsoft’s “Games For Windows” booths. It was from a PC-controlled arcade cabinet in Atari’s booth that we actually received our demo from an Obsidian staffer.
Character creation looks somewhat similar to the original Neverwinter Nights, with a few extra additions. Three different tints can be assigned to your character’s hair, allowing for more customization and the ability to give them some funky highlights if you wish. The prestige classes haven’t been finalized yet, but the demo showed the following selections: Arcane Archer, Arcane Trickster, Assassin, Blackguard, Divine Champion, Duelist, Dwarven Defender, Frenzied Berserker, Harper Agent, Neverwinter Nine: Agent, Neverwinter Nine: Magus, Neverwinter Nine: Warder, Pale Master, Red Dragon Disciple, Shadow Dancer, and Weapon Master. Many of these will be familiar to those of you who played the original Neverwinter Nights, though all three Neverwinter Nine prestige classes are totally new. Apparently these are buffing classes that are available if/when you become Lord Nasher’s bodyguard in the game. The team originally tossed around the idea of making everyone start with an alignment of True Neutral (just as the Nameless One does in Planescape: Torment), but they’ve since opted to allow a choice between all nine standard D&D alignments. Your alignment will shift during the game based on your actions and dialogue choices, though, so this choice won’t necessarily last your character’s lifetime. Toward the end of character creation, you can also choose a pre-designated background that adds a little extra depth to your character and may affect his or her statistics, skills, or feats. If your character is a magic-user, then you must also choose a familiar. Instead of providing a selection of exotic familiars like the original NWN did, Obsidian has limited the choices to common farm animals (pig, rabbit, spider, cat, etc.) to reflect your character’s simple history before beginning the game.
After breezing through the game’s tutorial, the demo jumped to the Temple of Seasons, which is about mid-way through the game. While the graphics obviously look better all around, it was this area that really showed how much more advanced they are from the original game. The Electron Engine is capable of all sorts of cool visual effects, which we saw firsthand while moving around to the temple’s different trials. Rain, snow, and ice all looked very realistic, but the heat displacement effect coming off of the floor in the Trial of Summer was by far the most impressive.

MAG: Story-Trailer HD
Developer: Zipper Interactive
Genre: Modern First-Person Shooter
Release Date: Q4 2009
Not heard by many, MAG (Massive Action Game) is the new revolutionary shooter coming sometime in 2009. It is currently in development exclusively for the playstation 3 console and is being developed by zipper interactive, the same guys that brought you socom.
First unveiled at the 2008 E3 conference MAG boasts features that not only have never been done but make you gasp a little when you hear about them. Probably the flagship feature of the action game is the new server architecture that it boasts, which allows up to 256 players to play together in a game.
The game will consist of squads, teams and commanders who will communicate via voip chat. Players who have proved themselves to be reliable and smart on the battlefield will be given the option of being a squad commander or will be given the ability to participate in some other form leadership.
Basic battles will take place within ongoing, faction-based campaigns to encourage the player to actively play with at least three factions being considered for inclusion; including American, European and Middle Eastern factions.
The games trailer at E3 depicted large landscapes, parachute drops and ‘massive action’ battles. It is believed that the game will be created in third person, however this is not a definite fact yet. An advanced class system is going to be put in place for players to have the ability to choose between medics, field commandos and demolition specialists.
All in all, its looking a great game and I for one can’t wait to play it!
